Beautiful Skin For Life. Beautiful Planet Forever.

Sustainability is an integral part of who we are as a brand. Our mission: to reduce our products’ footprint in line with the latest science so you never have to choose between results, experience, and impact on the planet.

Our Targets

Sustainability has been an integral part of Medik8 since its inception. Our founder is a passionate diver and has always been especially close to nature. Read more about why Medik8 is so deeply committed to sustainability.

Our ultimate goal is to become a recognised science-backed, results-led and sustainability-focused brand - leading our category and building for the future. That’s why we always follow sustainability science, not the latest trends, and transparently share our targets and progress - no greenwashing. We also give back to society through social investment. But don’t just take our word for it - we’ll be 3rd party accredited wherever possible.

We are in the middle of a climate emergency and every business, no matter how big or small, must take action. That is why we have set the objective to reduce our emissions to Net Zero by 2040, in line with limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels. This is 10 years earlier than set out in the Paris Agreement.

To achieve this, we’ve started by measuring our carbon footprint for the first time in FY21 and have set a plan for reduction. We are transforming our operations and ways of working to identify opportunities for emission reductions - both in our direct control (scopes 1 and 2) and in our supply chains (scope 3). We have also recently signed the Climate Pledge, joining the 400 other companies (in 34 countries around the globe) working on solutions towards that end.

When we talk about waste, we don’t just mean our packaging - but also the waste within our operations and manufacturing processes. That is why we apply the 4Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle, recover) to minimise our material impact and reduce how much waste ends up in the environment.

We have set ourselves bold targets: double the amount of PCR materials by 2025, ensure all packaging is reusable or recyclable by 2026, and make all of our bottles and tubes from 100% PCR materials by 2030.

We also aim to become a zero-waste-to-landfill company by 2025, which means all waste we generate company wide will be recycled, reused or recovered.

Ethical business is about doing right by our suppliers, teams, the planet and its animals. It’s also about being transparent with our customers and helping them to lead more sustainable lives through our products.

We have always put ethics at the very heart of our business and now we plan to do even more.

Some of our key commitments include: 100% traceable and responsibly-sourced ingredients by 2030, a Supplier Sustainability Programme by 2022, B Corp-certified by 2024, publish a recyclability guide by 2022, and conduct our first self-ID questionnaire with colleagues by 2022.

At Medik8, we feel it’s essential to give back to communities and the wider planet wherever possible. With a total minimum budget of £300,000 over 4 years, split between an established charitable partnership and an emergency and ad-hoc donations fund, we want to deliver the utmost value to society through our donations, as well as supporting our ambitions across our other core sustainability pillars - Climate Action, Waste Reduction and Ethical Business.

This follows our previous work under our Zipper Foundation banner, which saw us donate £35,500 to many worthy (mostly animal-related) causes since 2018.
